with the completion of track electrification between Virudhunagar to Tirunelveli and Viruthunagar to Tuticorin, it is certain that more and more trains will be hauled electrically. Hence it is imperative that the Railway Divisional headquarters being at Madurai , it should also have a complete Electric Loco shed for operation and maintenance of Electric locomotives. Should this region again have to be "kept" relying on Golden Rock, Erode or Tondiarpet Loco sheds for electric haulage. With Madurai Division generating a pheneomenal revenue , to Southern Railway , it is incumbent upon Madurai to have this facility. will the Railway authorities act in earnest and accede to our request?

For the past 2 days,
The madurai to palani passenger train has been extended upto pollachi.
The Tiruchendur-Palani passenger train was also extended upto pollachi.
Similarly chennai-palani train is also extended upto pollachi.

Not sure how many more years it will take to connect to coimbatore...

Given the numerous train operations originating from South Tamilnadu,will the railways provide the facility of Electric & Diesel locomotive overhaul facility / locoshed at Madurai. also it is baffling that the Rail Yatri Niwas constructed Opposite to the SBI , near the Madurai Railway Junction, is yet to be inaugurated . it too should be opened up in the interest of the Public / travellers.

Going by the recent interview of the southern rly G.M recently, the commercial plaza, in Madurai rly.station opposite to the TVS Building , is to be opened soon. why is there a colossal delay when concerned every other thing at Madurai Jn? can't the railways avoid this?

The state of A.P already had a lions share of all the railway projects , in south india , followed by kerala and karnataka. again even after bifurcation into telengana & seemandra , they are gaining doubly, garnering almost all the projects , in not only railways but aviation sector too. but see the fate of our south Tamilnadu's case.... as always every new project and funds are meant only for Chennai , while Madurai gets only a pittance. madurai-bodi new railway line has been planned an allotment of only Rs 25 crores. perhaps the fault lies in Theni district cponsumer and trade forums too. they are losing focus on dindigul-sabarimala line . first priority should be pitching for Bodi-Madurai line laying and they / rather we should make an emphatic demand on that. when are our peoples representatives going to realise our demands, struggle unitedly and achieve positive results and growth . it seems to be a pipe dream.

Push pull trains are operated from Trichy junction to thanjavur, mayiladuthurai, erode, karur, viruthunagar, manamadurai and karaikudi. similarly there is a growing demand for passenger trains from Madurai Junction to the towns / destinations like Dindigul, Viruthunagar, Ramanthapuram, Tenkasi, Tuticorin... etc . but the southern railways authorities are showing a lukewarm attitude and a step-motherly treatment , towards considering let alone starting , push-pull passenger trains using "DEMU" locomotives from Madurai. with the electrified haulage , and a significant increase in number of running trains, Madurai , abjectly needs a new electric loco shed facility.will the concerned authorities respond to these demands.

wish to emphasize the earlier demands on the Railway services to Madurai:-
1) Introduce " DEMU' Push/ pull commuter train services to Destinations Dindigul, Karaikudi, sivakasianad Manamadurai.
2) Complete the BG line construction work in Madurai-Bodi sector early and commence train services .(Over expectation!)
3) Start electric locomotive / diesel locomotive shed in Madurai for operational efficiency of Madurai Divisions trains.
4) Connect Madurai Junction to Karaikudi via Melur , Tiruppathur by a new BG line, as it is economically viable .
5) Introduce an exclusive day time superfast express train from Madurai JN to Bangalore.
6) Augment facilites at Kudal Nagar, Tirupparankundram, Tirumangalam , East Madurai and Silaiman railway stations and upgrade them on p[ar with suburban stations.

The CG gets substantial revenue from the passenger trains of Madurai division . but when it comes to projects , Madurai is perpetually neglected and denied , even for the essentials. as long as we are ignorant, self-satisfied and unmindful of our Madurai city's needs , and fail to demand , this step- motherly attitude will certainly continue .

It's regrettable that the Public of Theni District, especially Bodi are not demanding strong enough for early completion of Madurai - Bodi B.G line .it seems even the local traders association too , are neither serious nor much interested, to have railway service early to their place. as beneficiaries , they too should press for this crucial demand. expectation is that..... will they?
