^^ I thought within limited domestic connections, Madurai is doing great in both passenger traffic and cargo movements.

If we got international connections, I am sure the figures will double instantly.

Official inspects terminal

"Foreigner Regional Registration Officer Avi Prakash inspected the arrival and departure counters coming up at the new Madurai airport terminal building under construction on Thursday.

Mr. Prakash’ visit comes in the wake of Centre’s proposal following demand from various quarters for making Madurai airport, an international terminal. Accompanied by the Airport Director, P.S.R.K. Sudhakar, he inspected various facilities at the new terminal.

Mr. Prakash said that eight counters each for arrival and departure were coming up. This was the first inspection and he would inspect the facilities again once the works were over, he said.

R.P. Kohli, Senior Technical Director, Information Technology, New Delhi, was present."

Now a days more and more officials are visiting madurai new terminal premises. Its good sign for making madurai airport as international airport. :)

I think he mentioned about Immigration counters. 8 + 8 = 16 counters (4 less than 20 counters). Any how 8 counters are enough to start with.
