^^ It's great to hear such a statement form the AAI. It seams like they may make the new terminal working by July/Aug.

The Madurai-based Paramount Airways and the Delhi-based IndiGo Airlines were the only two among eight domestic airlines to report a profit during 2008-09, the Minister for Civil Aviation, Mr Praful Patel, informed Parliament on Thursday.

In a written statement to the Lok Sabha, the Minister said that Paramount Airways recorded a profit of Rs 7.26 crore. Incidentally, for Paramount Airways, 2008-09 was the third straight year that it had reported a profit.

Paramount rocking...

Soon they are going to start international flights too. It will be great if they connect Madurai with some international destinations.

I think Paramount is just being smart. It is not doing great, but has shown profits by not trying to expand as per their initial plans. They are just keeping the same 5 flights for a long time.

If they start international flights, sure they will include Madurai. They might even inaugurate it with an international flight from IXM.

However, AAI needs to do their part for that to happen. The Current State government and Praful are not having a good relationship. This could be a hindrance in getting early clearance for IXM to start international operations.

I want my Madurai to get international connections.

Transportations and Infrastructure are the basis for the development of any City. I think, Madurai is well connected with Road and Rail. But Madurai airport doesn't have good Air connections compare to other Airports in TN.

We are travelling to Chennai and Trichy to fly to other part of our Country and International. That is also one the reason we are having 9 daily flights to Chennai. Madurai is having good potentials compare to other Airports in our State.

^^ I too had a doubt for long time whether our politicians are really interested to develop cities other than Chennai.

Thank you Sundar. Looks like there is some busy activity on the sides. This was not there in the previous updates from others last month.

^^ If we compare recently inaugurated other airports new terminal work with the above status, it will take minimum one year to make this terminal operative. I don't think so in July or August!
