MADURAI: The temple city is all set to get its first Inox multiplex theatre. It could be a matter of a week when the denizens could be treated with the Inox experience.

The multiplex with five screens at Vishaal de Mall in the city was caught in a legal tangle over lack of fire safety features. Winning the court battle, the multiplex management is gearing up to commence screenings.

"We are awaiting the C form certificate from the district collector likely to be issued in a week. If we get the certificate the screenings would start from the very next day," said R Ilankovan, chairman of Vishaal Promoters, owners of the mall.

Madurai is the second city in Tamil Nadu to get Inox next to Chennai and the credit is all the more fitting for a city that loves movies and worships film stars. Though the multiplex was ready more than a year ago, the concerns over fire safety arrangements had stopped the district administration authorities from issuing it a licence.

The district administration had vehemently opposed the multiplex contending that there was severe violation of fire safety norms. Collector Anshul Mishra had argued that even a fire tender could not be taken to the rear of the mall, if a fire broke out in the theatres. But the mall owners defended stating that adequate fire safety mechanisms were in place. Hearing the case, the high court bench had granted the go ahead for the multiplex stating that the theatres had complied with National Building Code of India 2005.

"People of Madurai are eagerly awaiting the screenings to commence in Inox. It is a state of the art multiplex that would give a great movie viewing experience,'' Ilankovan said. The total seating capacity of Inox is 1302 seats in all the five screens put together in the fifth and sixth floor of the mall.

Screen 1 has 166 seats, while screen 2, 3 and 4 have 178 seats, 350 seats and 318 seats respectively. Screen 5 has 290 seats.

According to S Saravanakumar, mall manager, all the screens seats, floor, carpet, plywood are made in fire retardant low smoke(FRLS) materials which will not capture fire. Water sprinklers are fixed at the side wall & ceiling of each screen.

Priya cineplex update !!

Popular cinema multiplex "priya complex" went into renovation process last year !! and they opened 1 small screen minipriya from attakathi movie !!

and now as they informed earlier they are going to open their second screen "suga priya" from kadal movie !! so from feb 1st two screens will be operated (mini priya and suga priya)

Another phase of work is going on !! it will take another 3 to 4 months !! Big screen "Cinepriya" will be divided into two and it will be ready for the audience within june month :)

So its going to be a dashing "4 screen multiplex" ! Cheers Guys !
